troegenator

Brewery: Troegs Brewing Company
Location: Harrisburg, PA
Style: Double bock

I think this may be the first Double bock I’ve ever had. I’m sure I must have had others, but I just do not recall them. If this is – in fact my first – the Troegs Troegenator Double Bock is an excellent start.

It pours a deep rich brown with a bit of a thin head. The head collapses quickly leaving behind only a faint hint of foam. The beer – however – is HUGE. This is a big big ale. Very malty and think. There is a slight hint of sweetness, but for the most part it’s just a warm comfy ale helping you to get through this cold cold winter. The 8.2% ABV will also help in the “liquid blanket” area.

This is available year round, but honestly I could not imagine drinking it in the summer. Perhaps I’ll have to revisit once outdorr drinking season commences.

Troegs is quickly becoming a fave at the Ohabeer HQ. Most of what we have sampled this season has been exceptional. Even when they miss the mark a bit, it is still a nice utility beer. In the case of Troegs Troegenator Double Bock, they’ve gone well beyond utility into an excellent introduction to what a Double Bock should be (or at least what I think it should be).
