The Travel Channel is once again flogging its “Paradise” series playing back to back on endless loop every few nights or so. I caught the Barbecue Paradise a while back. It was a fairly decent balance of big name/famous destinations with a few places off the beaten path.

The latest episode I caught was Bar Food Paradise. An excellent round up of the usual suspects – Union Oyster House (oysters, of course) & Anchor Bar (buffalo wings) – and some rather odd entries. My top pick for “Man that sounds incredible”: the Irish Nachos at J. Gilligan’s Bar and Grill in Arlington, TX. Irish potatoes, cheese, peppers, onions and jalapeƱos are combined in a skillet. A perfect base/sponge to keep a full evening of drinking going.

Check your local listings for air times. When I ran into this, they were running Bar Food, Barbecue, Fried Food (not a real fan) and Steak Paradises all back to back in two loops starting at 8pm. Well, worth the watch – just don;t do so hungry…
